Hello GTG!
The computer that I am currently using has not had internet access for a couple of months. I knew that it had problems because it froze whenever I wasn't doing a virus scan. When I got the internet again, I downloaded a lot of Microsoft updates. Then Mcafee recognized a lot of things and deleted them. One problem though was "EbatesMoeMoneyMaker" and anytime that I tried to delete it, it would duplicate (?) itself and make different extensions (for example: .a, .ab, .ac, .ad.. etc) each time. I did all of the preliminary things such as CleanUp, Ad-Aware, Spybot, and Ewido. I'm just not sure if everything harmful is out of the computer. Any assistance you can give me would be much appreciated. Here are is my HJT and below that Ewido's: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 4:09:45 PM, on 8/6/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswctrl.exe C:\Program Files\VERITAS Software\Update Manager\sgtray.exe C:\Program Files\McAfee.com\VSO\mcvsshld.exe C:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\mcagent.exe c:\progra~1\mcafee.com\vso\mcvsescn.exe C:\Program Files\Winamp\winampa.exe C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe C:\Program Files\D-Link\Air USB Utility\AirCFG.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin\hpotdd01.exe C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin\hposol08.exe C:\Program Files\ewido\security suite\ewidoctrl.exe C:\Program Files\ewido\security suite\ewidoguard.exe c:\progra~1\mcafee.com\vso\mcvsftsn.exe C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin\hpoevm08.exe c:\program files\mcafee.com\agent\mcdetect.exe c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\vso\mcshield.exe c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\mctskshd.exe c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\vso\OasClnt.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\WZCBDL Service\WZCBDLS.exe C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\HPZipm12.exe C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\Bin\hpoSTS08.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\SDHelper.dll O2 - BHO: DriveLetterAccess - {5CA3D70E-1895-11CF-8E15-001234567890} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswshx.dll O2 - BHO: Google Toolbar Helper - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - c:\program files\google\googletoolbar1.dll O2 - BHO: TGTSoft Explorer Toolbar Changer - {C333CF63-767F-4831-94AC-E683D962C63C} - (no file) O3 - Toolbar: McAfee VirusScan - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - c:\progra~1\mcafee.com\vso\mcvsshl.dll O3 - Toolbar: &Google - {2318C2B1-4965-11d4-9B18-009027A5CD4F} - c:\program files\google\googletoolbar1.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dla] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswctrl.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [StorageGuard] "C:\Program Files\VERITAS Software\Update Manager\sgtray.exe" /r O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [P2P Networking] C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking\P2P Networking.exe /AUTOSTART O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DeadAIM] rundll32.exe "C:\Program Files\AIM\\DeadAIM.ocm",ExportedCheckODLs O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [VSOCheckTask] "C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee.com\VSO\mcmnhdlr.exe" /checktask O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [VirusScan Online] C:\Program Files\McAfee.com\VSO\mcvsshld.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MCAgentExe] c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\mcagent.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MCUpdateExe] C:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\mcupdate.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinampAgent] C:\Program Files\Winamp\winampa.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [D-Link Air USB Utility] C:\Program Files\D-Link\Air USB Utility\AirCFG.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iTunesHelper] C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [OASClnt] C:\Program Files\McAfee.com\VSO\oasclnt.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ctfmon.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Extreme Messenger for AIM] C:\Program Files\Extreme Messenger\ExtremeMessenger.exe nosplash O4 - Global Startup: hpoddt01.exe.lnk = ? Hi mosd3f,
Please uninstall: ViewPoint manager P2P Networking under Add/Remove Software. Then reboot and download WinPFind.zip and unzip the contents to the C:\ folder. Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
When the scan is complete reboot normally and post the WinPFind.txt file (located in the WinPFind folder) Regards, |

Thanks for the reply
I uninstalled the things you recommended and downloaded WinPFind. Unfortunately, I cannot reboot my computer in safe mode. It only starts reading the keyboard right before the log in screen. Is there another way that I can reboot into safemode, or to make the keyboard 'load' in time to press F8 at the right time? |

Here is the WinPFind.txt file:
WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding. If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows somethimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. Copy the part in bold below into notepad and save it as cleanout.reg
Set Filetype to "all files" REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\ShellBrowser] "{0494D0D9-F8E0-41AD-92A3-14154ECE70AC}"=- [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] "P2P Networking"=- Doubleclick that file and confirm you want to merge it with the registry. Then reboot and post a new HijackThis log. Regards, |

Thanks for all your help thus far!
I removed those things from HJT and started running a few programs such as Firefox and Notepad. Everything seemed to be going fine, a little slower than usual but only slightly noticable, then the computer froze |

To open Event Viewer, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Performance and Maintenance, then click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management. Or, open the MMC containing the Event Viewer snap-in. 2. In the console tree, click Event Viewer. The Application, Security, and System logs are displayed in the Event Viewer window. See if you can find a error or warning from the time your system froze. Let me know if and what you find. Regards, |

There was an error for the "Service Control Manager" in SYSTEM around the time it froze. I don't think there was anything else worth mentioning. It also froze one more time when opening the Event Viewer.

Aha. Well let's see if it helps.
Click Start > Run type services.msc > OK In the list of services you will find two Ewido services called: ewido security suite control ewido security suite guard Rightclick those and choose Properties. On the General tab Stop and set the services to disabled. Then reboot and let me know if it helped. Regards, |
