Here is the story. Friend says: Hey, play FFXI with me for a bit. See if you like it better then WoW. So I say: Sure. He gives me a buddy pass and I use it from this website. http://ffxi.boonty.com/ Downloads for three hours at only 350kbs. I stare mindlessly at the screen...
Fast forward three hours...Downloads done, I unpack...the Data1.cab file is corrupt. Lather rinse and repeat. FIFTEEN TIMES!

Please help me...for the love of god, help me. Is this download just corrupt or is it something with my computer?

I know nothing of computers. I only ask that you try to help me. I'll do everything short of killing my computer.

ok, I am a little unfamiliar with how this works.

QUOTE
t's simple, it comes with a Download code, which is inputed at http://www.playonline.com/f11us/download
After putting in the download code you can download a free copy of the orgininal game. then you will have to go through with the hour(or more) patch uploads.
Once that is done it comes with 2 registration codes: 1 for playonline and 1 for FFXI.
once all that is done you can try it out for Free for 30 days, sounds nice EH?
So I figured I would offer this up to the first person who wants it. If you want to try it on my server, Asura, let me know And i can get a world pass for ya too, but whateve.

So, when your friend sent you the buddy invite, it should have come with the info to obtain the software. The link above doesn't work. However http://playonline.com/ is the main site for ffxi. you may need to contact support through there.

Well, we did a dirty shortcut. All we did was take the data files and transfer them over to my computer. It's funny that I could get it to work better by cutting it up and piecing it together. And I felt darn smart after it too. The Data from Boonty.com, where they have been downloading their buddy codes in the past, is in fact, corrupt.

So thank you for the help and attention to my tiny problem. wub.gif But this is a confirmation....the data you're getting won't load right.
