I have a virus on my computer at work which claims to be anti-virus software. It will not allow me to download McAfee total protection software. It will not allow me to run Free SuperAntiVirus program. It also will not allow me to follow the Malwar and Spyware cleaning guide. I am stopped at Step #1. Started today. 'Security Alert Center' pop-ups pop up frequently. Along with urges to buy Anti-Virus software. The virus also posts pornographic website icons to my desktop. blushing.gif Can anyone please help me? My boss will be so mad. lookaround.gif

Hi there lets investigate

Please save this file to your desktop. Double-click on it to run a scan. When it's finished, there will be a log called Win32kDiag.txt on your desktop. Please open it with notepad and post the contents here.

I messed around with the computer for awhile and then was able to run some scans in safe mode. I then followed the admin's instructions for removing malware. I think I fixed it for the most part.

When I saved that program and ran it, this is what came up:

Log file is located at: C:\Documents and Settings\Casher1\Desktop\Win32kDiag.txt

WARNING: Could not get backup privileges!

Searching 'C:\WINDOWS'...

OK one piece of good news from that report smile.gif

This programme can be run from safe mode if needed

Download Combofix from any of the links below. You must rename it before saving it. Save it to your desktop.

Link 2

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Double click on Combo-Fix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt along with a OTL log so we can continue cleaning the system.

THEN

  • Download OTL to your desktop.
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
  • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTListIt2.
    • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply.
