well i recently upgraded to a AMD 64X2 Dual Core Processor 2.4GHz, 2048 MB RAM, 256MB PCI-Express GeForce 6800, on an ASUS M2N-MX mobo

Try downloading EAX.dll put it into the FF8 folder.

Try moving the ff8.exe file from the original folder to the folder before it. It should work.
