I've been approached by a Dr. in the Pittsburgh area to create a very simple 5 page web site. No multimedia or scripting involved, just straight HTML. I've done freelance work in the past, but at an hourly rate. This guy wants a price for building the web site, which I'd estimate to take between 1-4 hours to complete. My question is how can I price doing the work without bidding myself out? I don't want to over charge, but obviously I would like to be paid a reasonable amount. I've been doing web design for about 9 years, and this simple question has me as flustered as a newbie.

Multiply your hourly rate and the amount of time you expect to work on this project?
For example: 5 hours X $25/hr. =$125

I usually charge a flat fee for building a site. I also get all the specific details and requests in writing with the customer, and ask for half up front. That helps avoid misunderstandings and makes sure that the customer is serious, and willing to pay.
