Hello! I am currently having many problems with spysheriff being on my PC. I've tried all kinds of programs to try removing this virus and all of the trojans that came with it but so far I'm not having any luck. I read somewhere that I shouldn't take the same steps that you've told other people because some things might not be the same on my system. Sorry if this has been posted before. If it has please forgive me. Here is my HiJackThis log. Thank you for your help!

Download smitRem.exe and save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop. Place a shortcut to Panda ActiveScan on your desktop. Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here: http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ Please read Ewido Setup Instructions Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet. If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates: Ad-Aware SE Setup Don't run it yet! Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
=================================================== R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Cnwl] C:\WINDOWS\System32\r?gsvr32.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Dste] C:\Program Files\stdt\drcr.exe O21 - SSODL: System - {C1AE8F59-3F7D-4408-B9DC-D4400AF59BB8} - vr_sys.dll (file missing) O21 - SSODL: AOL Instant Messenger - {41C77417-10C0-89B7-877F-D6C65D735F0F} - c:\program files\aim\dvnrf32.dll =================================================== Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked. Open Windows Explorer (right click on Start and then click on explore). Locate and delete the following folders and files - Folders C:\Program Files\stdt Files C:\WINDOWS\System32\r?gsvr32.exe (do not delete the file regsvr32.exe, which is a system file) c:\program files\aim\dvnrf32.dll vr_sys.dll (Search for this file using the Windows Search function) Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen. Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish. The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply. Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds. Run Ewido:
Next go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web > Uncheck "Security Info" if present. Reboot back into Windows and click the Panda ActiveScan shortcut, then do a full system scan. Make sure the autoclean box is checked! Save the scan log and post it along with a new HijackThis Log, the contents of the smitfiles.txt log and the Ewido Log by using Add Reply. Let us know if any problems persist. |

Your log looks much better. We just need to take care of one item.
Reboot the PC in Safe Mode. Click on Start ---> Run. Type Services.msc and hit enter. Locate the item - svchost.exe. Right click on it and then click on properties. In the Startup Type choose the option Disable. Close the window. Open Windows Explorer (right click on Start and then click on explore). Locate and delete the following file C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe (Make sure that you dont delete the file - C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe) Run Hijack This. Click on config ---> Misc Tools ---> Delete an NT Service. Type in moto and hit enter. Reboot the PC in Normal Mode and post a fresh HJT log here |

Hi Kotocho,
To speed up your PC, Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed - O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iTunesHelper] C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked. Please note that this will not delete the files. It will only prevent them from running at start up. You can always run the programs manually. Please close Ewido and stop it from running at startup. You have downloaded the trial version of Ewido and after the expiration of trial period, some of the key features would not be available. These include automatic updates and online guard. You can keep Ewido and use it. Only everytime you use it make sure that you update the signature files. Let me know how your PC behaves now. |
