I've managed to download the virus TrojanDownloader:Win32/Renos.IO and can't get rid of it with my basic knowledge. Truth be told, I'm not sure where to begin other than running a virus scan.

Can anyone help me? I'm willing to jump through hoops to get rid of this! It's slowed down my computer and made it so that running basic programs has become tedious.

Thank you!

Edited to add: In the meantime, my virus scan is now picking up SHeur2.Aret and Generic14.Hcy and I'm getting the "blue screen of death". I'm currently running in safe mode and running my AVG virus scan again, hoping it helps some. But I know I need more help than just that.

I'm generally good with computers, so will be able to follow instructions and do what needs to be done. I just don't know what it is that I need to do.

Hi Kelly!

Welcome to Geeks to Go! My name is Elster and I will be helping you fix your computer.

Please note that I am still in training, so there may be some delay between my responses. This is so that a resident expert may check my reply before I post back to you.

Also, please keep in mind that very rarely will a computer be "dis-infected" on the first sweep. The absence of symptoms does not mean that your computer is clean, so please stick with me until I give you the All Clear!

I recommend that you save and print each of my posts, as there will be times when you will not be able to be online to access them.

The first hoop I need you to jump through wink.gif is to please follow all of the steps in this section of the Malware Forum. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post the MBAM, Root Repeal and OTL Logs in this thread (please do not attach any logs unless I ask you to).

Thanks!

Elster
