Alrighty then. I was told I'd have to download something (keylogger, etc), that they would have to take control of my computer, or that they had to have known my account name and just used that 'brutal' program, or whatever to continuously guess the password.

The thing is, I was hacked when I took all the precautions - I never went on any sites I didn't know, no phishing sites, my name on the forum was not related to my account / IGN, my security question was extremely difficult (you're not required to type in the answer when you log in, though), my password was as strong as it could get I thought..

and I'm sitting here with an item-less account.

What the fuzzle, man?

The game was Nostale, if you care to know. The global version, mind you.

My basic questions are..

- Can you actually protect yourself from hackers?
- Do hackers /really/ need a keylogger or phishing site? It doesn't appear so.

Chrizt, this is ridiculous. :/

It's not a glitch - others are itemless, sometimes the hacker even just deleted the account entirely afterwards. I guess I'm lucky to even still have my characters.

I Seroiusly doubt that you can really protect your self from hackers as if they are really determined anything is possible,

Also Keyloggers and phising sites are just easyier ways to steal peoples passwords, E.G a keylogger will record every key pressed on your keyboard and then send it off to the hackers computer and a phishing site just makes you enter your details so that it can steal your account.

I would recommend heading over to the Malware removal Section to see if you have got a virus / Keylogger and if not take a look at some other suggestions as on how to protect your Computer and passwords
