I have just been through a massive clean up process with help from emeraldnzl the past several days and have been given the all clean.

I'm including a link for the things we have done, LINK in case more detail is needed and can in some way help this situation.

My last problem is that in some of the updates I did in the other processes, I have downloaded the Windows Search 4.0 program and I don't like it. It took me a few days to realize what was causing a couple of my problems, but I am pretty sure this is it. I did some googling last night and couldn't find a good way to get it all removed, so I am looking for help.

Thank you in advance!

Hello Jenn,

Click Start > Run > type in the Run dialogue box type

C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB940157$\spuninst\spunist.exe

This should uninstall that partitcular update.

Also I think it is listed in Add/Remove programs. You may have to select

"show updates".

The above process should remove Windows Search 4

Hello Jenn511b...

Open Control Panel and double click on "Add or Remove Programs". At the top of the Add or Remove Programs window, tick the box next to "Show Updates" and give it a few seconds to populate.

Scroll down to the updates. locate KB940157 and click on it...click on "Remove".

You may be asked to reboot after the update is removed...do so.

I just looked through my Add/Remove Programs list, w/Show Updates checked, and I don't seem to have one listed as KB940157 specifically. I do have Windows Search 4.0 program, would removing that get it? I just don't want to do anything that might mess something else up since I've gone through so much getting it cleaned up this past week.

One side note, I had one freeze up tonight, it was fine, I left the room for a little while to do something and came back around 20 minutes later, and it was frozen up. Could this be more than just a malware issue since it seems to be clean now? I've downloaded and am using Firefox as well as did the other things I was suggested to do, and my daily anti-virus and spyware scans have come up clean since.

Thanks for any help!
