Can someone tell me how I can block internet connection on one of the computer in small office network?

To turn off internet sharing through a network goto:
> Start
> Control Panel
> Network Connections
> Right Click on the internet connection NOT the network connection (Eg. Broadband, ect.)
> Click "Properties"
> Goto the "Adavnced" tab
> There is a frame called "Internet Connection Sharing"
> Unselect "Allow other network users to connect..........."
> Click "OK"
> Restart the computer.

When you have completed the following above instructions, the user on your network will no longer be able to share the connection.

What if there are 3 computers on the network and you want to turn off internet on only one of them?

huh? you just don't want them to be able to go to websites in internet explorer?

if this is a workgroup (i would assume it is right) and you just want one computer to NOT be able to get online you could (on that computer) open up internet explorer > click tools > internet options > connection > lan settings> untick the detect settings automatically and tick "use a proxy server for your lan" then put in some random ip address...that will effectively "break" their connection....of course...if they know to check that area...they can undo this change...

You could also enable the Content Advisor which is in Tools -> Internet Options. Allowing them access to no sites and setting up a password will prevent them from using IE.

Sorry to jump on a thread that isn't mine, but...

Wouldn't this only block people that are using the computer from checking their e-mail or something while working? People from the outside world would still be able to access the computer (providing they could hack the thing or something), right? I'm not sure what the original postee was looking for, but I'm curious to know if there is a way to completly block internet access on ONE computer in a network? Say by disabling the TCP/IP protocol or something like that.

the only way to prevent a computer from being accessed by the outside world is to never attach it to the outside world (i.e. the internet or a network with internet)...if you disabled the tcp/ip protocol you would indeed remove the ability to get online...but you would also remove any ability to network the computer...

so if you had a stand alone computer that wasn't part of a network...and you had no desire to get online or check your email...then you could do that...but...why not just unplug it from the wall?

Because its a central computer in my lab that holds data that everyone uses. I'm sure its fine, but I was just curious as if there was any way to do it. I mean, it has a firewall, it has a password on it, so I'm sure its fine, but there really isn't a need for internet so I figured I'd just be safe and disable it if it was possible.

well..if it's connected on a network to a machine that has internet access...then...all someone needs is access to the other computer...the best practice is to have a good firewall and a good network security policy

In some router setups (access it by 192.168.x.x normally) you can block an ip address on the network from accessing the internet (or the whole network).
