1. Please open Notepad
  • Click Start , then Run
  • Type notepad .exe in the Run Box.

2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window:

QUOTE
File::
c:\windows\system32\740ECF10C1.sys

3. Save the above as CFScript.txt

4. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix again.

5. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), please post the following reports/logs into your next reply:
  • Combofix.txt
  • A new HijackThis log.

Panda is not working for me. I've downloaded the files, allowed ActiveX and start the scan then everything just closes. It closes all open windows and then does nothing.

That's okay. We'll just do another scan with Kaspersky instead. Is your computer running better though?

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

  1. Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  2. It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  3. When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  4. Make sure the following is checked.
Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
      Mail databases
  5. Click on My Computer under Scan.
  6. Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  7. You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  8. Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  9. Please post this log in your next reply, along with a new HijackThis log.

This one took over an hour to run last time, so I'll post it as soon as it's done. My computer seems to be doing a lot better now, it's hard to tell because I've been avoiding the interent inbetween these scans. I don't want to make anything worse. I am so glad you are able to take the time to hold my hand through this process, I would be lost without you!
Is there anyway to get my McAfee virus protection back without buying it again? I had the package deal of overall protection/firewall and now the only one I don't have is the virus protection. How screwed am I?

What changed with your McAfee protection? How did you lose the firewall, and just keep the Virus protection? Just not sure I have the whole story. happy.gif

Just the opposite, I have the firewall but not the virus protection. I was turning everything off before running ComboFix, I went to Windows Security and was able to turn off the firewall, but accidently removed the virus protection completely (I kept trying to find a way to turn it off and it wasn't working, I was hoping I could just reinstall it after Combofix.... I am an idiot.)

Anyway..... Here are the logs.

According to your HijackThis log, your McAfee Virus Protection is on and running. I think it would automatically turn itself back on after you reboot, without you having to do it manually. Is there a setting or something missing, or anything? What makes you think it's no longer there?

The only thing that makes it look like it's gone is when I go into the Windows Security control panel and it has three items to either be on or off. The Firewall protection, The Virus Protection and the Automatic Updates to security. It used to show all three as on, then I disabled the Firewall and attempted to disable the Virus Protection. Then I turned McAfee back on and now the security panel has Firwall 'ON' Updates 'ON' and Virus Protection "None Found"
I'm going to try to make sure everything is on and then shut down my computer and see if the control panel still says none detected. Maybe I still have the protection and it's just no longer being monitored through the Windows Control panel. I'm out of the office for today, but I'll look at it again in the morning. Thank you for being so patient!!!

McFee still claims I have no virus protection, and I seem to get re-directed randomly now from something other than Ad.yieldmanager. It seems like everytime time I scan the computer I just get a new virus within a few days.

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
  1. Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
  2. Close any open browsers.
  3. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
    -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
      -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Close any open browsers.
    • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
    • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
    • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.

    -----------------------------------------------------------
  4. Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  5. When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  6. Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.

**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

I haven't been re-directed to a search page for a few days but web pages are not loading properly. Pictures and graphics don't load and the page is just a list of texts, instead of links and articles. I have to log off line and then get back on in order to get any pages to load properly again.
Here are my logs...
