Hallo thar. I'm a new user, this is a similar problem, from about 2003. I've recently gotten a virus, I've removed it.
But now I've a bigger problem, I CAN'T change my desktop. It's greyed out, and it says my desktop is 'critical_warning.html' Picture: ![]() I guess I was wrong, I did some things, and it removed the 'critical-warning.html' desktop, and now it's just 'desktop background' And that was just now that it changed. PLEASE HELP! [I'm now sure if this post is in the right topic, admin move if so?] Also, here's a HijackThis log: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 7:37:06 PM, on 10/24/2009 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\AppleMobileDeviceService.exe C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010\avp.exe C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_06\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010\avp.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wscntfy.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010\klwtblfs.exe R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.ask.com/?o=13920&l=dis R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://toolbar.ask.com/toolbarv/askRedirec...amp;gc=1&q= R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,Default_Search_URL = http://toolbar.ask.com/toolbarv/askRedirec...amp;gc=1&q= R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://toolbar.ask.com/toolbarv/askRedirec...p;gc=1&q=%s R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local R3 - URLSearchHook: DefaultSearchHook Class - {C94E154B-1459-4A47-966B-4B843BEFC7DB} - C:\Program Files\AskSearch\bin\DefaultSearch.dll (file missing) O2 - BHO: WormRadar.com IESiteBlocker.NavFilter - {3CA2F312-6F6E-4B53-A66E-4E65E497C8C0} - (no file) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C255C8A-E604-49b4-9D64-90988571CECB} - (no file) O2 - BHO: SSVHelper Class - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_06\bin\ssv.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_06\bin\jusched.exe" O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_06\bin\ssv.dll O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_06\bin\ssv.dll O16 - DPF: {F7EDBBEA-1AD2-4EBF-AA07-D453CC29EE65} (Flash Casino Helper Control) - https://plugins.valueactive.eu/flashax/iefax.cab O18 - Protocol: linkscanner - {F274614C-63F8-47D5-A4D1-FBDDE494F8D1} - (no file) O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\PROGRA~1\KASPER~1\KASPER~1\mzvkbd3.dll -- End of file - 2744 bytes This post has been edited by David2009: Oct 24 2009, 08:36 PM |

Hi, welcome to the G2G Forums. My username is Raktor, and I would be glad to help you with your malware issues. I'd be grateful if you would note the following:
1) DDS ![]() Please download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here. Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
2) RR Please download RootRepeal.zip. Save it to your Desktop. Alternate download links here or here. Please print these instructions, you will not have an Internet connection! If you have a 3rd party "unzipping" program...use it to open the zipped file...then skip to Step 5. Otherwise...
Make sure to enable your anti-virus, Firewall and any other security programs you disabled. Note: If RootRepeal cannot complete a scan and results in a crash report, try repeating the scan in "safe mode". 3) What You Will Need To Post:
