Ok where to start:

Last week something happended when I shut down the computer the monitor shuts off but machine kept running. I had to manually turn off the machine from the back. It's been doing this ever since.

Last couple of days the machine would boot up ok but when I clicked on any program it would be real slow to come up.

Then last night after running my Virus Scan (McAfee) I ran bit defender see attached picture. It found a virus called preloader.dll otxloader.a. I guess it didn't delete it. McAfee found nothing. :tazz:

Then this morning when I turned on the computer, I received an error saying there was a problem booting up windows, I rebooted it came up but took 5 minutes and the screen looked like I was in safe mode, but I wasn't. It was here that I noticed that my sound (I have Nvidia) wanted to load a sound driver, new hardware found kind of thing. So I booted again and it came back up but I lost all sound, and when I went to load the drivers it will not take.

So I'm starting to back up my HD but when I go to back up Outlook it says the file (outlook.pst) is being used and will not let me copy the file.

So as you can see I have a problem and I'm hoping I can get this fixed first back up what I need then go ahead and reformat my hard drive.

Is it to late???? ;)

Work your way through the malware removal guide at the top of this forum where it says "Do you suspect a malware (Spyware, Virus, Trojan) infection? Please start here. " This enables folks to solve most problems on their own. If you still have a problem after that, post a hijack this log in the malware forum at
