I’ve been having some problems with my computer after visiting http://www.videostored.com/ and downloading DivX from their site. For instance, computer becoming very slow, and many ads pop ups. When i'm playing games online the computer starts to lag a lot and it becomes unplayable. When it comes to computer related knowledge, I’m clues-less so please have some patience with me thank you.

I pasted a log sheet from Hijackthis and believe the program that's cause this havoc is O4 - Startup: Think-Adz.lnk = C:\WINDOWS\system32\swinqndt.exe, and O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [WinPop] C:\Program Files\WinPop\winpop.exe

Thank you for your time

Note: I wanted to paste the log sheet from avg or was it ad-aware SE personal but i didn't know how to

Hi

" What's the difference between hijackthis.exe and scanner.exe?"

Vundo infection hides all 02 and 020 entries if process named HijackThis.exe is running, that's why renaming smile.gif

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

1. Download combofix from one of these links:
Link1
Link2
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Post:

- a fresh HijackThis log (taken after combofix and vundofix)
- combofix report
- vundofix report

Well, a few things went wrong while in the process. for instant, Vundofix didn't delete itself and combofix said it was going to print a log sheet. but i left it there overnight and it still looked at the same place as before. it also looked like it froze so i cancelled it b.c. it was there overnight.

now my clock is at 14:26 and it apparent didn't reboot.

well here's the log other log sheet and thanks again.

Hi

Then we use this instead:

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
  1. Close all applications and windows.
  2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  3. When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
  4. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt to your post. in your reply

Hi

Is Norton 2003 outdated?

Uninstall via add/remove programs:

Outerinfo
Viewpoint Manager (Remove Only)
Viewpoint Media Player
Windows AdTools

Open HijackThis, click do a system scan only and checkmark these:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/.../search/ie.html

O20 - AppInit_DLLs:

Close all windows including browser and press fix checked.

Reboot.

Delete these:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\l3acdb.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kmgqyhwb.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\swinqndt.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vvfrtrd.dll

Empty Recycle Bin.

Please download the Registry Search tool by clicking on the "hard drive" icon halfway down this page:
http://www.billsway.com/vbspage/
Save it to the desktop and run it. If you get an alert from your antivirus about scripting, choose to allow the script to run. Search for TnIDriver and click OK. Post the logfile from the tool here for me.

Re-run dss

Post:

- a fresh dss log
- Registry Search tool results
- c:\ComboFix.txt (if exists)

Leave it now alone; you can delete if later (after you're clean).

Hi

Please download the Killbox.
Save it to the desktop.

Please run Killbox.

Select "Delete on Reboot" and "All files"

Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\hiydyotl.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\l3acdb.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kmgqyhwb.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\swinqndt.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vvfrtrd.dll

Go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again..

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

Empty this folder:

C:\!KillBox

Empty Recycle Bin

Now continue with registry search smile.gif
Go to the top of the page

well i didn't receive any command or prompt so i figured it went smoothly. then i deleted C:\!killbox and emptied recycling bin. but what do you mean "now continue with registry search", do you want me to register to program? would you want me to file a log sheet? and all of the programs i download with the back-up files can be erased now?

thanks a lot for helping me out <333

EDIT: also is there a way i can teach myself to remove malwares instead of coming here like a noob and asking to waste your time. would i have to keep up to date with programs to remove malwares? and thanks a lot i haven't been receiving any Ads. wub.gif
