Hello My name is Mario. I am trying to connect my LINKSYS Wireless-G Router to my Westell 2200 DSL MODEM which Verizon provided. I have tried getting help from Verizon and Dell and LINKSYS themselves. They always sent me to someone else, "you neeed to contatc Verizon. Verizon tells me to call SYSLINK, etc...", but with no real answer.

I have an XP. The Modem is connected using an USB so I tried connecting via ethernet card but the verizon software does not recognize that the DELL PC's Ethernet card. I think I have problem with the ethernet card this is what I get:

Ethernet Controller PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1050&SUBSYS_01571028&REV_02\4&1C660DD6&0&40F0 The drivers for this device are not installed.

Where can I get these driver(s)....I tried my XP cds and could not find them. I could not recognize from the message above who to go to microsoft or Dell?

If this is the problem that's great! But in either case....Has anyone out know how to connect these components together? Any suggestions?

What is the model of your computer that you have? First we need to find out the make and model number of the network card (it's most likely part of your motherboard) and next find the drivers. If you have a Dell computer then it should have come with the drivers already installed. You should have gotten a Dell System Recovery Disk of some sort that most likely has your network card drivers on it. Let me know the details and we can figure something out.

Well you hit the nail on the head with the driver issues. The best thing to do it go
to Dells website and find your model computer. Then go to the support and download the newest drivers for the NIC. Once you have that done all you need to do is set the modem to bridge mode and then setup the linksys for PPPoE. That is assuming that you are using PPPoE, wich I can asume since you have a westell 2200.

Newbie here! I'm having a problem similar to Mario's and can't think of the problem. I'm working with a Dell desktop and laptop, the desktop about 18mths old. I've determined my drivers are ok, and I need to switch the Westell from PPPoE mode to bridge, and this is where my problems occur.

I cannot access the modem interface using the 192.168.1.1 address. Always gets "Page cannot be displayed" in IE6 and "Cannot Connect" with Firefox. Cleared cache, cookies, reset modem, rebooted PC. The only thing I think may affect it may be the fact I dont actually use the Verizon DSL software to login to my connection. I lost the software and CD long ago, and only use a Network Connection in XP to login.

Does anyone have any thoughts before I waste another hour trying to speak with a Verizon rep who knows less about their product than me? Help!!! I need to get the wireless network set for my laptop!

For future reference, please start your own topic, people may miss the fact that you are asking a new question. You will need the Verizon online CD, it has the drivers for the modem/router.

Depending on what modem/router you have, another option may be go to that manufacturer's website. (I.E. Westell.com) and look for the model you have and see if you can download the drivers.

* a word of caution - if you download the modem drivers manually, once installed you will have to go to 192.168.1.1 and manually configure the router settings on the modem. such as under connection overview, edit connection profile so it contains your verizon username and password. That is the major one i can think of off the top of my head. You may also have to edit VC configuration, private lan, public ..blah..blah...

Once you have it set up, keep VCI 35 on PPPoE, your DSL connection will not work otherwise! Enable VCI 36 for bridge.

Call verizon first....let me know how you make out!

I'd gotten the Verizon software in the mail, and installed the drivers but I still cannot get to the modem interface. Westell's site routes you back to the ISP for support with the Westell 2200. I also tried installing another modem, the Westell 2100, but cannot locate the drivers for this one.

Verizon is getting a bit desperate now. They told me there is a problem with my NIC although I was ONLINE at the time I was speaking with them. My internal diagnostic and Dell proved otherwise. We did try to uninstall the NIC, but received an error. Will be working on it again tonight.

ANSWERS FINALLY! I got the network up and running. The answer was so simple I and all my helpers overlooked it. My modem wasnt being recognized by my PC so I wasnt allowed to access the interface at 192.168.1.1. A quick adjustment to the DHCP option in the device manager, and all was well.

For all Verizon DSL customers, try the live chat option in Help & Support as opposed to calling. I got much better assistance with that method.

hello everyone my name is amos also known as a-boog i found this website in a yahoo search and i said to myself i wonder if i can get help or tips here. I have verizon dsl service and a westell 7500 modem i have a state of the art hewlett packard desktop with a built in wireless internet card. the room i have my computer in does not have a phone jack but is the best room in the house for the computer. my modem sits directly facing my computer through the threshold of the room they are about 10-15 feet apart and i also have my ps3 connected with wired connection. i cannot get and consistent connection i get this domain name server message also low quality signal but my wireless signal is mostly always excellent. the only thing that really erks me and bugs me out is that when im playing madden online my signal will just drop at any given moment and any given time i could be blowing someone out all of a sudden i lose a match because drop signal can any one help me pleas
