Internet Explorer keeps freezing

It's a Dell Precision M4400 laptop running Windows XP Pro.
Not sure how to know if it's built-in wireless or a wireless card (I think it's built in).
My D-Link router Firmware is the current version, which I haven't yet tried reinstalling.
The wireless adaptor is Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN.
I found an update to the wireless adaptor, but the new driver didn't help.
The router is fairly new, and otherwise seems to work well.

Did you uninstall current wireless adapter driver, first, before installing fresh copy?
Are there any other computers connected to the same router?

Well, the way I see it, the only option left - there is something wrong with the router.
Probably I'm asking the obvious, but did you disconnect it from power source for 1 minute, to reset it?
If so, I'd suggest to borrow a router from a friend, or neighbour, for 30 minutes, and see, if the problem is still there.

Yes, I had the router unplugged for a while. My sister has the same router, so maybe I can try that --- could I just bring my laptop to her house and try connecting to her server, or do I have to bring her router to my house? (I think I know what your answer to that question will be).

When I google the issue, it looks as though other people have the same problem. I will see if I can find a solution among them. Otherwise, I may try calling D-Link support to see if they have any ideas.

Well at least we've identified where the problem is, and I can temporarily get around it by disconnecting my router. Thanks for all your advice!

The location doesn't matter, so you can go to your sister's place.

Calling D-Link may be a good idea as well.
