Want to know if this would be compatible with my current motherboard

Emery2 is also known as the P5LP-LE board, a board made specifically for HP/Compaq by Asus.
The bits should work together but you quite often find that machines built by specific vendors are generally limited in terms of upgrade ability alone. That computer comes with a 7300 card as standard, an 8800GTS is quite a big step up from it. I have seen a computer from this week alone that could see a 7950GT card but wouldn't talk to a 3870 x2 card. The machine wasn't much older than yours. If you're not sure how to update the BIOS then please don't do it. According to the specs of your machine from HP, your machine was only fitted with a 200Gb hard drive, not a 500Gb. |

well, i would buy a new motherboard its just that i know so little about them its completely unknown territory >< the type of hard drive or CD drives i have wouldnt matter in buying a new motherboard would it? also does the motherboard make a huge difference in performance?

If you are a big gamer, I would recommend the E8400, it has a awesome overclock and runs at 3.0ghz stock clock.
