Hey guys,
I need some help getting rid of this bug. Not quite sure how I got it, but things are running slow with repetitive pop-ups. After the initial infection, and generating the HJT log, I shut down the PC. Now when I started up for the first time since, I have new shortcuts on my desktop (Error Cleaner, Privacy protector, and Spyware protection), and the closck in the lower right of my desktop now reads "VIRUS ALERT!". Additionally, I can not use my mouse. Lastly, I have a pop-up window titled "Windows Security Alert" which then asks me to download a spyware remover. OH, and it won't let me open the task manager... States that the manager has been disabled by the administrator... !!! The PC is now useless, and I am writing from another clean machine in the house... Any help is greatly appreciated. Many Thanks! Hello, my name is fenzodahl512 and welcome to Geekstogo... Please do the following...
Please read my post CAREFULLY before proceed with this step. Please download ComboFix by sUBs from HERE or HERE and save it to your Desktop. For more information regarding this download, please visit this webpage **Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
**Note: DO NOT mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall** Regards fenzodahl512 |

Hello Again,
I've run the Kapersky scan, and attached the results below. Overall my PC is working much better, though there are a few issues that still remain. The machine seems to be running a tad bit slow, IE browser is also a little slow, and the clock in the taskbar is in military time (24h). I can't seem to find a way to change it back to 12 hours time... The recent scan shows some bugs hanging around, and I assume this may be the cause of my additional problems??? Awaiting instructions. Thanks Again! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KASPERSKY ONLINE SCANNER 7 REPORT Monday, June 30, 2008 Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600) Kaspersky Online Scanner 7 version: 7.0.25.0 Program database last update: Monday, June 30, 2008 17:42:31 Records in database: 899354 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scan settings: Scan using the following database: extended Scan archives: yes Scan mail databases: yes Scan area - QUOTE The machine seems to be running a tad bit slow, IE browser is also a little slow, and the clock in the taskbar is in military time (24h). I can't seem to find a way to change it back to 12 hours time... Erm.. not sure how to change that clock setting.. Please show hidden files and folders. Please visit HERE if you don't know how. First, please empty your Norton quarantine folder.. Delete everything inside below folder and leave the folder empty.. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition\7.5\Quarantine NEXT 1. Please open Notepad
2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window: CODE File:: C:\update\install.exe C:\WINDOWS\seksdialer.exe C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\axuninstall.exe C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\wsaupdater.exe C:\WINDOWS\UnstSA2.exe 3. Save the above as CFScript.txt 4. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix again. ![]() 5. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), please post the following reports/logs into your next reply:

Good news...Your log looks clean to my eyes
Time for some housekeeping
NEXT Please Install/Update Sun Java Updating Java:
NEXT I noticed that you already have: 1. Symantec Antivirus as antivirus 2. Malwarebytes' as antispyware However, I haven't seen any third-party firewall in your logs.. Do you have any? If you don't, please install ONLY ONE of these free and excellent firewall below: After you install the third party firewall, please disable your Windows firewall. Please go to My Computer >> Control Panel >> Windows Firewall and choose Off (not recommended) option. Then please click Apply and Ok. Lastly, to keep your operating system up to date please visit the link below monthly To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read this excellent article by Tony Klein: So how did I get infected in the first place? Please also read an excellent article by miekiemoes :Help! My computer is slow! And another excellent article by CastleCops Malware Prevention: Prevent Re-infection Please reply to this thread once more and tell us about the computer behaviour before we can close this thread Have a safe and happy computing day!
