QUOTE
To find out if the CD-ROM image is on your machine, search for a folder named I386. There may be several but the one we care about will contain close to 7,000 files, two of which will be winnt.exe and winnt32.exe. The I386 directory is typically one of the top-level directories on the distribution CD-ROM but most importantly it is the directory that contains the distributed copy of Windows XP. Winnt.exe and winnt32.exe are the DOS and protected mode setup programs, respectively. (You'd only need those if you were planning to re-install Windows XP from scratch - I use them here as an easy way to indentify that we have the right directory.)

I tried it and it finished, then the windows file protection closed and nothing happened. I restarted and nothing. I'll try to do it again and wait a little longer after it finishes

Unfortunately in your case it may be a re-install but first I will try it as a batch file

[attachment=16942:FileFix.zip]

Download and extract the attached file and you will get a filefix.bat double click this and see what happens

New user accounts is Start > Run > nusrmgr.cpl

This will bring up the accounts manager - it is worth a try as I am running out of ideas and will have to do some more searching

I am afraid that batch file was the last item in my armoury - I am still searching. If you can get hold of a windows CD and try sfc /scannow. But to be honest it looks like a re-install of XP. Something to be prepared for there is a preparation tutorial here http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/Reformat-In...ws-t173729.html Could you access your i386 folder ? and further data here http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qi...23061319AANse9S or here http://www.pctechbytes.com/hprecovery.htm
