Hello and thank you in advance, I have done everything recommended to restore performance, now I would like to remove start up programs that aren't needed. I just want someone who is tech savvy to help me so I don't kill my computer smile.gif I ran adaware, spybot S&D, trend housecall (which said I have grayware, but I believe it is adaware updates) windows is all updated as well. I am also curious as to why everyone says not to install SP2 until you are sure there isn't any infections, because I have installed SP2 and I think my performance had decreased since then.
Once again thanks to anyone who can help me, Jay

Please print the below instructions or copy them to Notepad.
Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\jusched.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RealTray] C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\RealPlay.exe SYSTEMBOOTHIDEPLAYER
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CloneCDTray] "C:\Program Files\SlySoft\CloneCD\CloneCDTray.exe" /s
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background
O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe
O9 - Extra button: Microsoft AntiSpyware helper - {E87DE21B-8BFF-4E66-862F-99F455D484B4} - (no file) (HKCU)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Microsoft AntiSpyware helper - {E87DE21B-8BFF-4E66-862F-99F455D484B4} - (no file) (HKCU)
O16 - DPF: {11311111-1111-1111-1111-111111111157} - file://C:\Recycled\Q330995.exe
O16 - DPF: {70522FA2-4656-11D5-B0E9-0050DAC24E8F} - http://cc.iwon.com/ct/pm3/iwonpm_12_1,0,2,5.cab
O16 - DPF: {9522B3FB-7A2B-4646-8AF6-36E7F593073C} - http://a19.g.akamai.net/7/19/7125/1450/ftp...02/cpbrkpie.cab
O23 - Service: PLSRemote Service (PLSRemoteSvc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\PLSRemote.exe (file missing) - unless you are in a company/school environment where you are not the administrator, this should be fixed (if that's the case, do the below in BOLD BLUE also)

Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad:

sc stop PLSRemoteSvc
sc delete PLSRemoteSvc
del delete.bat

Save the file as "delete.bat". Make sure to save it with the quotes. Double click on it.

Empty your Recycle Bin.

Restart. Your log is clean.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer and uncheck the same box to enable System Restore.

To help prevent future spyware infections, read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided.

Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go.
