Need WinMX help, WinMX will not download

I would like some help from anyone who knows about WinMX and current problems. WinMX does not have a help site. I recently bought a new pc. I can enter WinMX and connect, but when I want to download a song, I only get to the waiting for connect stage and not past that. When I first downloaded WinMX, it could not configure the TCP port and, through further research, I have learned that certain ports are protected behind firewalls and need to be mapped. I have two internet firewalls on my pc, the first is through SP2, the Windows pack and second is my Panda antivirus. I have tried to simply allow the port but it still does not work. What I need to know is how I can use that TCP port without taking my firewalls down. If anyone has any info, please help.
