I need help removing the pop ups from Aurora. I've run CleanUp, Ewido, FindIts, Microsoft AntiSpyware, Ad-Aware, CWShredder, Spybot S&D, and finally HijackThis. As prompted by other posts, here is my HijackThis log. Hopefully I have all the tools you need me to have to get rid of Aurora! Thank You in advance!! :tazz:

Hi Kristine and welcome, You have quite a few issues here,

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

Hi Kristine, Still showing us that the updates have not been applied,

*Please go here (Microsoft website) using Internet Explorer ( not Firefox or any other browser as they won't work)
*Click on "Windows Validation Assistant"
*Click on the "Validate Now" button.
*Be patient while the ActiveX loads, do not click on any links.
*Read the instructions on this page while it's loading. You will be prompted to install - click YES.
*Enter your product key then click "continue"
*When it says "Validation Complete" please click "Continue to return to your previous activity"
*Copy what it says and paste it here.

Ok, here ya go - - I had validated this a couple weeks ago, so it did not prompt me to put in my product key again since I had already done so. I did however click 'Validated Now' and this is the message that I recieved:

=====================================================
Thank you for running the Windows Validation Assistant. It appears that your Windows Product Key is valid.

This is a strong indicator that your operating system is genuine, however the Windows Validation Assistant cannot make a final determination.

The benefits of genuine Windows software include greater reliability, faster access to updates, and overall richer experiences. Users of genuine Windows are also eligible to receive special offers as part of the Windows Genuine Advantage program.

To verify that you received a genuine Certificate of Authenticity and software CD, compare your anti-piracy features in the next section.
=====================================================

I also went ahead and checked for a Windows XP secirity update again. It took maybe 15 minutes, so hopefully this was the correct security update you needed me to do in the first place. I hope I didnt mess anything thing up! :tazz: Anyhoo - Here is now my most recent Hijack log:

OK Kristine,
Lets run through a few things here then,

First
You have a Peper Trojan
Go here and run the The Removal Tool
. You must be connected to the internet for it to work.
Close all open windows then run it. It will run in a flash so don't think it hasn't worked!
Reboot

Next
Disable Microsoft AntiSpyware

Next
Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from here:
http://www.noidea.us...050515010747824
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

Alrighty, here is the the updated Ewido scan that was saved before I ran and "fixed" the checked off stuff from HijackThis, followed by an updated HijackThis log . . .

Can't thank you enough for helping me out! :tazz:

My logs are in the above post, but I forgot to tell you that I have several new "programs" in my program files folder. Ex: NoAdware3, SideFind, WebSiteView, SpywareNo, 180Solutions, YourSiteBar, InternetOptimizer, and im sure more program files that shouldnt be there. Im sure you can tell this from the logs, but if not, just a heads up. They've all been "deleted" at one time or another, yet seem to continue to show up not matter how many times I 'uninstall' it. This time i'm judt letting it go, until you tell me how to get rid of them. Also, my desktop not has a Blue screen that has a big black 'Windows warning' saying "a system has dectectedspyware activity. Some functions are blocked out. Windows recomends to to clean you PC with a spyware removal tool. This has to be done as soon as possible to prevent loss of date." I know its a 'fake' warning sign with some html page, but can seem to get rid of it either. This jsut recent popped up since the last reboot. OK, ths it. Sorry for being obnoxious . . . :tazz:

Thanks again, Kristine
