Not sure where to start. Have new pc, only 1 week old, with Vista 64bit OS. If we try to open anything, it immediately does the opposite and closes it. Can't get into anything, ie CTL/ALT/DEL - as soon as you try it, the page opens for a milisecond and then closes again. Can't open web pages or use keyboard. However, it is not consistent and may go back to normal for a few minutes.

Sometimes it works fine, for 6 hours today, and then it suddenly starts and even when trying restarting or leaving it for a while, the problem is now staying.

Similar thing happened yesterday. We did have Trend Micro antivirus on - it was having trouble installing updates, so we uninstalled that and loaded AVG free antivirus and problem went away...until today.

Not sure if it is software or hardware problem. Have tried updating drivers. Also getting error message with "CCC" ..."MMACEPrev.exe has stopped working" error message...have no idea whether these are related.

My son is trying to play WOW, and manages to get into WOW, by getting into it before the startup programs start and it seems to work. EVErything else is just not working.

If someone could just give me an opinion as to where to start....ie, back to computer shop if hardware problem? Thought maybe it might be an overheating problem? Though fans seem to be working fine.

First thing to do is wipe the computer with the built-in system recovery software if such an option is available. If it behaves in the same way under a new installation take it back to where you bought it from. Warranty should cover hardware, it'll never cover software.
