I got this alert from Macafee that i had the New Win32 virus. my computer has been acting really wierd. it keeps crashing and giving me a blue screen with the IRQL_NOT_EQUAL_OR_LESS message. The message i got today from macafee said that the new win32 virus was in my system32 folder in my C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe and C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe files. I had a message a while back that i got the win32 Delf.uc virus. Everytime, i connect to the internet, something happens, like one of the times, like 50 windows explorers opened up. So i stay disconnected until i can fix it. I have my laptop and a flash drive so i can put hijackthis and other programs on until it randomly crashes on me.i am posting the Hijackthis log. If you need anything more,please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Hello vipman4evr,

Welcome to Geekstogo.

Firstly, please go to Start > Control Panel >Add or Remove Programs (Programs and Features if you are a Vista user) and uninstall the following if they exist:

Viewpoint, Viewpoint Manager, Viewpoint Media Player.:

Viewpoint Manager is considered to be foistware. You can go to the link below to read about it.

http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546

Now

Download Combofix from either of the links below. You must rename it before saving it. Save it to your desktop.

Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools.

Double click on Combo-Fix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt for review.

A question here vipman4evr: Did this happen before you downloaded and attempted to run ComboFix or after? Tell me when you come back.

Meantime

Try and see whether last known good configuration will get you into Windows.

1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
4) Select Last Known Good Configuration and proceed.

If you can get into Windows that way follow the instructions to run ComboFix and post the results back here.

nope, that didnt work. like theres a small window that asks for the password. its not at the blue windows logon screen. i try just to logon without a password. then, it says saving settings and then right back to the logon thing it does this for anything i put in for the password box. i was thinking about taking out the battery. someone said that works. can you walk me through that. do i just take the battery out? and put it back in?

Hmm...not exactly sure about what is happening here.

Are you saying you can't actually get your computer to shut down properly and that is why you are getting this small window with the password request?

The reason I ask is because the removing the battery option is, in my experience anyway, usually used when you can't get your laptop to close or reboot any other way. With my laptop (which I might say is a very old one) you just take the battery out, wait a few minutes and then put it back. You could try that I suppose... might reset it.

However if this is happening when you initially start up then I think there may be something corrupted somewhere in your machines registry (might have been fixed with Last Known Good Configuration) or some system file corrupt or missing. The best solution may be a Repair Installation, do you have your Windows CD?

By the way I see you are seeking help elswhere. You will need to decide where you want to receive help from. You cannot work with two different helpers on the same problem. It can be downright dangerous.

If you want to continue here you will have to tell the other site that you no-longer need their help. Alternatively tell me that you are continuing there and don't need my help.
