I ran into the same problem on a clients machine. I tried every fix out there that I could find but the solution that worked was installing a fresh copy of both iTunes and Quicktime. After that I ran a repair of Quicktime using the Quicktime only download (I had to download the Quicktime and the Quicktime+iTunes installer). For some reason the installer with both doesn't install a clean copy of Quicktime.
