I've been away from web design for a while. But I have a database of products that I want to display. But with PHP/MySql isn't there a way to make the pages generate themselves instead of having to make each page individually, and adding the mysql code to pull the data from the database? I can't remember if there is a way to do this. If so can anyone point me to a tutorial or something? Thanks.

I don't know of any tutorials off hand that will do what your looking for per say. How complicated are you looking at making it? Just a pop up with an image, product name, sku, description and close or a fancy interface with a lot of data?
Either way your going to be looking for a template engine in php to handle the dynamic to static alot easier (ie one page for product info, another for a product list) Another way to do it (could be more code) is just to have php generate each page individually from the db with out it replacing anything. And the last way that I can think of right now, is just to use static variables and assign your db values to the static to use in a template then overwrite the template with the db vars. |
