Unfortunately, Hotmail doesn't provide the greatest support for their email services (especially if it's a free account). You will need to contact them again to see if you can provide any other proof to validate it's your account.

I'm not sure if it's malware related (still could be). Try asking in the Windows forum to see if they have any ideas what might cause this problem. Maybe there's another way to repair IE...

To help prevent future spyware infections, read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided.
