I'm posting over here with a general Windows issue. I just received help to repair a malware issue, but I'm also battling an issue that I don't know if its hardware or software related.
The problem is 10 - 15 minutes after booting up my system, I totally lose control of Windows. The system can either be untouched or I could be working on something, and the current window will freeze, followed by the rest of explorer. The catch is, I can still move the mouse via the touchpad (I'm on a laptop) Sometimes the cursor will still change from arrow to cursor, etc, but i cannot select anything, toggle between windows, or type because I also lose keyboard functionality. I must then proceed to hold down the power button to turn off the machine.
I believed this to be hardware related, but then I discovered that using Windows in SAFE MODE does NOT give me the same problem. I've tested the theory back and forth, and it will constantly freeze in normal mode, but function fine in safe mode. I'm posting this right now in safe mode with networking, so I can access the internet. Just don't know how to proceed from here. I'm thinking its a program conflict, but I also posted this in the hardware forum in case software is not thought to be the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
