My "System" process is taking up a lot of my system memory. I don't think its normal cause if you look at the attachment on here my friends is like 2-00K and mine is 50000K. I just dont think its normal. Is there anyway to reduce the memory that its using?

I personally dont know alot about it myself...

However i dont think the mem usage total should be a problem / any concern

If it was using alot of CPU , then i would be concerned

I have seen it use a lot of my CPU Usage. Would this have to do with my Outlook 2007 not working anymore?

When you load outlook , it may use alot CPU

What do you mean outlook not working...

Why does it not work and do you get any error messages?

PS: How much RAM does your computer have ?

Right click on " My computer " and select properties if you do not know

These are the full specs of that computer.

Intel Celeron D 3.33GHz
2GB DDR2 PC2700 RAM
160GB HD x2 (I have 2 of them on my computer)
DVD Burner
Floppy Drive...

Those are my basic specs.

I figured out the Outlook 2007 problem, it was actually Microsoft's Windows Live Hotmail Outlook Connector program that was causing Outlook to crash.

It doesn't look normal.
Download, and install Process Explorer: http://technet.micro...s/bb896653.aspx
See, what sub-processes of "system" are running.

Okay, I'll take a look at Process Explorer when I get to my home computer since I am not currently home at this second. I will post the results when I get back at home.

Okay I ran Process Explorer and there is one that is using a lot of CPU but is there a way to tell what is using up a lot of memory as well?

I'll attach the items that are running in Process Explorer

Can you also tell me which ones are known for using a lot of memory?

In Process Explorer, go View>Select Columns>Process memory tab.
Checkmark "Working set size". Click OK. It'll show RAM usage now.
In main window, look for "System" process. Expand it, so sub-processes are shown. Then, provide a screenshot, like this one:

I really don't see anything suspicious there.
Is your computer working fine?

Download HijackThis:
http://www.trendsecu...ckthis/download
Click on Download HijackThis Installer
Install, and run it.

Click on Open the Misc Tools section button.
Click on Generate StartupList log button.
The list will open in Notepad.
Save it as startup.txt.
Zip the file, and attach it to your next reply.

Just to make sure...

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
