Resolving PB services issues:

To manually install/uninstall the components, users may use our PBSVC Setup Program. However, uninstalling the new service components will disable PunkBuster and may prevent playing on PunkBuster servers. PBSVC can be downloaded from here.

QUOTE
There have been a couple of new PB updates and some players are being kicked due to it.

Ive been digging information out as much as possible and believe the problem to be a firewall issue. PB is unable to communicate with some peoples computers due to their firewall settings.

There have been about three known PB messages which say something like

"Heartbeats stopped" , "Handshakes failed" and another initialization error,

PB is NOW running as a service (process) When you start cod4, your firewall needs to accept a service called PnkBstrB.exe which is in your PB folder.

If you go into your Trend, Norton, or Macafee firewall settings, add the above PnkBstrB.exe as a trusted service using the add button

Just updating your psetup.exe is not enough

OS: windows 7 64bit build 7048

I am a windows 7 64 bit user build 7048 and when I played call of duty World at War i kept getting punkbuster error (Unknown Windows API Function 131132. after about 20 seconds
After looking at the forums and I eventually came across this, tried this and lo and behold it worked played for an hour without getting kicked,

Don't do anything with the registry, go to c:\users\\appdata\local\punkbuster\WAW\pb now right klick on PnkBstrA.exe and choose the tab "compatibility" and now just check "run this program as an administrator".

Do the same with PnkBstrB.exe.

Now go to Services and scroll down untill you find PnkBstrB, double click on it and disable it and stopp it, play codWAW in normal mode and enjoy!;)

This worked with Windows 7 7048 32bits&64 bits.
