bunraku,

You have a Lop.com infection. To remove it, follow the directions below.

Go to Add or Remove Programs
look for any of the following, and uninstall them:

Window Search
Window Searching
Lop.com
LOP SEARCH
Browser Enhancer
Ultimate Browser Enhancer
MessengerPlus
MessengerPlus2
MessengerPlus3

You may find entries similair to the above but with Weird spacing in the names.

You may be given a code to insert, do so and reboot when done.

If it is not listed in Add/Remove Programs, or if the uninstall does not seem to work go here:
Download the LOP uninstaller from http://members.roger...w_uninstall.exe HERE.
download and run this uninstaller.
Reboot when done and post another log

So I saw no listing for any of the Lop.com programs in Add/Remove Programs
none of these

Window Search
Window Searching
Lop.com
LOP SEARCH
Browser Enhancer
Ultimate Browser Enhancer
MessengerPlus
MessengerPlus2
MessengerPlus3

And when I opened that uninstall program it didn't seem to do anything- I am feeling kinda dumb right now- any ideas

Hi bunraku,

(Print out these instructions.)

1). Enable browsing of All Files and Folders http://www.xtra.co.n...1916458,00.html

2). Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following directories marked in red(if found):

C:\Documents and Settings\Jade\Application Data\EXITBA~1\ (The folder that starts with EXITBA)
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\elsechickindstart\
C:\Documents and Settings\Jade\Application Data\LessMfcd

3). Run HiJackThis and do a scan.

4).Exit out of all windows, and place a tick next to the following entry:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.zqemibxqi...wgeR0SYcVbK.htm

5). Click "Fix Checked"

6). Restart your computer.

7). Rerun HiJackThis and do another scan and post that scan on your topic.

Matt
Thanks again for all your help- I am feeling rather newbish though, as I couldn't find any of:
C:\Documents and Settings\Jade\Application Data\EXITBA~1\ (The folder that starts with EXITBA)
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\elsechickindstart\
C:\Documents and Settings\Jade\Application Data\LessMfcd
and I followed your instructions line by line.

I did however delete
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.iqzyiybgg...84qZMoAreWx.htm

and here is the new scan log:

So I was reading thru thru the log scan and noticed these:

O23 - Service: McAfee.com McShield (McShield) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\mcafee.com\VSO\mcshield.exe (file missing)
O23 - Service: McAfee.com VirusScan Online Realtime Engine (MCVSRte) - Unknown owner - c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\vso\mcvsrte.exe (file missing)

I don't even run any McAfee softeware any longer- I am using AVG and have been for some time. Do you see any potential probelm with having Hijack This take care of these lines?

nope. Go ahead and correct those files.
Any files you see with
(file missing)
at the end of it means that the program is no longer in that location but your registry things it is. This happens when you delete files manually rather than by using an uninstall program or something else.
Please delete those with the method above.
