Security update won't install

Hi everyone, :)

well there's this security update that my computer keeps trying to automatically install, but it never gets installed, and here are the results of what it says

Hi,

Uninstall .net version 1.1.

Reinstall it if you want to and try the update again.

But if you have .net 2 I don't think you need 1.

Yes I do have .net 2
so do I uninstall .net 1.1 and then try the update?

If you want to, but I don't think you need to.

No harm in trying, you can uninstall it if it don't work but it might.

Well no offence, but I don't think I wanna remove that, if it's only under a simple whim. Just trying to be safe, don't want my system getting unstable from doing something wrong that I didn't know about.

Anything .net 1 has that you need
.net 2 has it also

Well the update is no longer available, and I just got rid of .net version 1.1
So any suggestings on what happened cmpm?

No I don't know why the update didn't work, but you don't need .net 1 having .net 2.
So it will not try to update something that is not there.

If there are any other issues that come up, post them.

Microsoft Update is a pain anyway. But it is needed.
