yes thumbsup.gif

Please read these instructions carefully and print them out! Be sure to follow ALL instructions!

Download SmitFraud Reg to your desktop.

Locate "smitfraud.reg" on your desktop and double-click it. When asked if you want to merge with the registry, click YES. Wait for the "merged successfully" prompt then follow the rest of the instructions below.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following programs, if found:

Security IGuard
Virtual Maid
Search Maid

Exit Add/Remove Programs.

*IMPORTANT*CLICK THIS LINK TO LEARN HOW TO VIEW HIDDEN FILES

I need you to copy all of the Killbox file paths below and paste them into Notepad.

* Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit. *In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.

* Save it to your desktop.

* Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.

* Select "Delete on Reboot".

* Open the Notepad file where you saved the file paths earlier and copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C

C:\wp.exe
C:\wp.bmp
C:\bsw.exe
C:\Windows\sites.ini
C:\Windows\popuper.exe
C:\Windows\System32\wldr.dll
C:\Windows\System32\helper.exe
C:\Windows\System32\intmon.exe
C:\Windows\System32\shnlog.exe
C:\Windows\System32\intmonp.exe
C:\Windows\System32\msmsgs.exe
C:\Windows\system32\msole32.exe
C:\Windows\System32\ole32vbs.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\hp9DC6.tmp

* Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

* Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

While your computer is restarting, tap the F8 key continually until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter.

Make sure you can view hidden files.

Using Windows Explorer, delete the following, if found, (please do NOT try to find them by "search" because they will not show up that way)

FOLDERS to delete (in bold) if found:

C:\Program Files\Search Maid
C:\Program Files\Virtual Maid
C:\Windows\System32\Log Files
C:\Program Files\Security IGuard

While still in Safe Mode, do the following:

Make sure all programs and windows are closed. Run HiJackThis and place a check next to the following items, if found, then click FIX CHECKED

I need you to delete the items in bold from your favorites:

C:\Documents and Settings\Cornovii\Favorites\Online Gambling
C:\Documents and Settings\Cornovii\Favorites\Home Loan.url
C:\Documents and Settings\Cornovii\Favorites\Need Money.url
C:\Documents and Settings\Cornovii\My Documents\Your Scanner.url

Then do this:

I need you to copy all of the Killbox instructions below and paste them into Notepad and save it.

* Run Killbox.exe.

* Select "Delete on Reboot".

* Open the Notepad file where you saved these instructions earlier, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them then press CTRL + C:

C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\webdlg32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\webdlg32.inf
C:\WINDOWS\system32\perfcii.ini

* Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

* Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

After your computer reboots, post a new HiJackThis log (make sure it's the full log - you cut off the top part on the last one!) There are still a couple of things we need to remove from the log.

Did you follow all of my previous instructions ?

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following programs, if found:

Security IGuard

And this:

FOLDERS to delete (in bold) if found:

C:\Program Files\Security IGuard

Because he is still showing up in your log... Trust me, you do NOT want Security IGuard! whistling.gif

I need you to remove Security IGuard first! Then follow these instructions:

Make sure you are disconnected from the Internet and that all programs and windows are closed. Place a check next to the following items, if found, and click FIX CHECKED:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Security iGuard] C:\Program Files\Security iGuard\Security iGuard.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Akht] C:\WINDOWS\System32\l?gonui.exe

Be sure to set your system to SHOW HIDDEN FILES

Reboot into Safe Mode.

Then using windows explorer delete the following items (in bold), if found:

C:\Program Files\Security iGuard
C:\WINDOWS\System32\l?gonui.exe <- Be careful! Do NOT delete logonui.exe! Delete the one with the "?"!

If there is anything else you missed from my previous instructions I highly recommend doing them! biggrin.gif

Looks good!

Congratulations your log is clean! Great job on the clean up thumbsup.gif

I recommend checking the http://www.microsoft.com website periodically for critical updates to install.

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:

Ewido Security Suite <= Protection against Trojans, Worms, Dialers, Hijackers, Spyware, and Keyloggers.

Detect and Remove Programs:
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
Prevention Programs:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well known ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
Other necessary Programs:
  • AntiVirus Program<= An AntiVirus program is a must! Whether it is a free version like AVG or Anti-Vir, or a shareware version like Norton or Kapersky, this is a must have.
  • Firewall<= A firewall is definitely a must have. Two good free versions are Sygate and ZoneLabs.
P.S. Texas biggrin.gif
