 Download L2mfix from one of these two locations: http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread. IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so! |

Hi Sam, I am working on it, I downloaded the file to my desktop, but it didn't extract so as soon as I can figure how to get it to extract I will run it and copy the results here.

Hi Sam, I did get the file extracted, I clicked on l2mfix.bat, I did select 1 and pressed enter. After about 35 seconds I got a pop up box from Microsoft saying NTVDM. EXT has encountered a problem and needs to close, so at this point I am unable to get a copy of the log for you I have tried four times and get the same message each time. I did send the message to Microsoft, but I hope you will be able to help me.

That's perfect! Just what I need to see.
 Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot. From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log. IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so! |

Hi Sam, I ran the scan two times using option#2, but it would not finish, I waited about 30 min. and I have DSL so it should have finished. Is there any other way I can do this. I tried running it in the safe mode one time and it didn't work. I made you another highjack this log, but I don't know if that will help since I couldn't run the l2mfix #2. This is what it said in the box. Killing explorer and Rund1132.exe 1 file copied scanning first pass. Please wait, but I waited 30 min for each one and nothing happened.

It may have run enough to do the trick because I don't see VX2 in your log anymore. Let's get some other things cleaned up and then we'll come back to l2mfix and see if it will run normally.
Please make sure that you can VIEW ALL HIDDEN FILES. Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these.
