Howdy:

Okay.. first of all, cd-rom's don't burn cd's.. You need a cd-r/rw for that..

Secondly, have you checked Device Manager to see if it is still being recognized??

Curious, can you do three things for me.

press the windows botton and the R botton to open the run command box,
type in the run command box devmgnt.msc
see if the computer is seeing your sony drive

also,
press the control botton with the escape bottom to get start menu
arrow across the my computer and press enter botton
see if the sony drive is there and right hand click it(space with F10)
click hardware
see if your sony drive is mentioned by name.

Lastly,
Sounds stupid but could you explain not burning, as in some fault turning up, or not moving, or making a funny tick sound, etc.,

Post back but it may be that you just have to disinstall then reinstall it.

PS, btw does anyone know the run command of the my computer window, would be grateful if the let me know
