My only symptom left after about a half hour of testing is an error message on startup where something is apparently looking for one of the files that has been quarantined - seems to be ultimate defender related, The message is that IE cannot find "privacy_danger/index.htm". Not sure if the system is clean or not - it has seem stable in the past only to start having all the symptoms again. Here are the most recent sequence of events and associated logs...Any help that you can provide would help me sleep better at night! Thanks in advance! ****RAN AVG in safe mode - found nothing ****Rebooted into Normal mode ****Recieved an IE error message on startup saying ""privacy_danger/index.htm" could not be found. It was probably previously quarantined. ****THEN RANSuperAnti-Spyware - following log resulted: SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log http://www.superantispyware.com Generated 10/22/2007 at 01:30 AM Application Version : 3.9.1008 Core Rules Database Version : 3328 Trace Rules Database Version: 1329 Scan type : Complete Scan Total Scan Time : 01:21:28 Memory items scanned : 634 Memory threats detected : 0 Registry items scanned : 7272 Registry threats detected : 0 File items scanned : 89052 File threats detected : 12 Adware.Tracking Cookie C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Cookies\owner@pandasoftware.112.2o7[1].txt Trojan.Net-MSM/NMC C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\OWNER\LOCAL SETTINGS\TEMP\AC8ZT2\MSMHOST.DLL C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION\_RESTORE{4653E8F8-6519-4964-B7BD-828D96FBCC0E}\RP820\A0029969.DLL Trojan.Net-MU/Gen C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION\_RESTORE{4653E8F8-6519-4964-B7BD-828D96FBCC0E}\RP815\A0029677.EXE C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION\_RESTORE{4653E8F8-6519-4964-B7BD-828D96FBCC0E}\RP816\A0029748.EXE C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION\_RESTORE{4653E8F8-6519-4964-B7BD-828D96FBCC0E}\RP817\A0029818.EXE C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION\_RESTORE{4653E8F8-6519-4964-B7BD-828D96FBCC0E}\RP817\A0029890.EXE C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION\_RESTORE{4653E8F8-6519-4964-B7BD-828D96FBCC0E}\RP817\A0029908.EXE C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION\_RESTORE{4653E8F8-6519-4964-B7BD-828D96FBCC0E}\RP817\A0029919.EXE C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION\_RESTORE{4653E8F8-6519-4964-B7BD-828D96FBCC0E}\RP820\A0029962.EXE C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION\_RESTORE{4653E8F8-6519-4964-B7BD-828D96FBCC0E}\RP820\A0029986.EXE Trojan.Media-Codec/NewMedia C:\WINDOWS\NMCUNINSTALL.EXE **** THEN RAN Hijack This: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 2:11:47 AM, on 10/22/2007 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16544) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\csrss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\AppleMobileDeviceService.exe C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\guard.exe C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRecvr.exe C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehSched.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\McAfee\HackerWatch\HWAPI.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\MSC\mcmscsvc.exe c:\program files\common files\mcafee\mna\mcnasvc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\VIRUSS~1\mcods.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\MSC\mcpromgr.exe c:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\mcafee\redirsvc\redirsvc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\VIRUSS~1\mcshield.exe C:\Program Files\McAfee\MPF\MPFSrv.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\New Boundary\PrismXL\PRISMXL.SYS C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\svcntaux.exe C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\swdsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\SDTrayApp.exe C:\Program Files\SlimServer\server\slim.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Pure Networks\Network Magic\nmsrvc.exe C:\Program Files\Canon\CAL\CALMAIN.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\mcagent.exe C:\WINDOWS\ehome\ehtray.exe C:\Program Files\Digital Media Reader\shwiconem.exe C:\Program Files\Intel Audio Studio\IntelAudioStudio.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllhost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxpers.exe C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehmsas.exe C:\WINDOWS\zHotkey.exe C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\PDVDServ.exe C:\Program Files\Pure Networks\Network Magic\WebServer\bin\nmraapache.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\DLA\DLACTRLW.EXE C:\Program Files\silex technology\SX Virtual Link\Wdnotify.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\alg.exe C:\Program Files\Pure Networks\Network Magic\nmapp.exe C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe C:\Program Files\Pure Networks\Network Magic\WebServer\bin\rotatelogs.exe C:\Program Files\Pure Networks\Network Magic\WebServer\bin\rotatelogs.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Pure Networks\Network Magic\WebServer\bin\nmraapache.exe C:\Program Files\Pure Networks\Network Magic\WebServer\bin\rotatelogs.exe C:\Program Files\Pure Networks\Network Magic\WebServer\bin\rotatelogs.exe C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\avgas.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\Quicken\bagent.exe C:\Program Files\SUPERAntiSpyware\SUPERAntiSpyware.exe C:\Program Files\BigFix\BigFix.exe C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqtra08.exe C:\Program Files\Logitech\SetPoint\SetPoint.exe C:\Program Files\SlimServer\SlimTray.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Logitech\KHAL\KHALMNPR.EXE C:\Program Files\Sony\Sony Picture Utility\VolumeWatcher\SPUVolumeWatcher.exe C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe c:\program files\mcafee\msc\mcuimgr.exe C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\McAfee\EmProxy\emproxy.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\Program Files\Hijackthis\HijackThis.exe R1 - Welcome to GTG.
Please print the below instructions or copy them to Notepad. Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer and uncheck the same box to enable System Restore. Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one: O1 - Hosts: 169.254.122.33 NPI95ECEF - if you know what this is for, you may leave it alone O21 - SSODL: msmhost - {78DB976D-6822-4011-A525-AABB27124F22} - (no file) O21 - SSODL: msmdev - {128CD447-E82B-42BC-8F10-9F2EA04F4173} - (no file) 1. Download combofix at http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe 2. Double-click combofix.exe & follow the prompts. 3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply. Note: Do not click on combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall. Post a new HijackThis log here when ready. |
