Greetings,

The reason for my post is that my computer is running very slowly. It can take up to 30 minutes to go through a boot up and when opening a program, that can take up to 5 minutes. The internet is also very slow, however I have a high speed connection and my other computers run fine. The computer will also just hang where programs stop responding for up to 5 minutes at a time. And the CPU Usage History constantly shows CPU 1 running almost at 100% constantly.

I have read thru the KRC Anti-Spyware Tutorial. I will paste below the results of the scans:

Download, install, and run Whats Running.
Click on Take snapshot in the left pane.
New pop-up window will open.
Click on Save snapshot, and save the file as snap (.xml extension will be added automatically) to know location.

Zip the file, and attach it to your next reply.

For some reason, I can't unzip your file. Can you try to zip it again, and repost?
What program did you use to zip snap.xml?

Ok, re-attaching. I was using Winzip v12. I have changed the compression to a more friendly version on this attachment. Hopefully you can open this one. :)

System Idle Process is listed at 95.5%, which means CPU usage is barely at 4.5%, so I don't see an issue here, unless we didn't catch it at the right time.

However, you have 52 startups, and this alone is an issue for sure.
For easier reading....
Download, and install Quick Startup: http://www.glarysoft.com/qs.html
Go File>Export, save report, and paste it into your next post.

One more point. It takes almost 20 minutes for my computer to boot up. This is a recent change. And if I have any programs open, such as Outlook or any other program, even a browser, the CPU Usage goes way up on CPU 1 to almost a consistent 70%. This is all recent as in the last two weeks. No new programs have been loaded. But I did have some virus/spyware that has since been deleted, but that only helped the performance a little.

While I'm going through your list, do me a favor, and try one more thing...

Go Start>Run (Start Search in Vista), type in:
msconfig
Click OK (hit Enter in Vista).

Click on Startup tab.
Click Disable all

Click Services tab.
Put checkmark in Hide all Microsoft services
Click Disable all.

Click OK.
Restart computer in Normal Mode.

NOTE. If you use different firewall, than Windows firewall, turn Windows firewall on, just for this test, since your regular firewall won't be running.
If you use Windows firewall, you're fine.

Same slowness?

Yes, still very very slow. BTW, I use ZoneAlarm as a firewall and it would not allow me to turn off its services from MSCONFIG. Could that be the problem that is slowing everything down?

Also, as the computer starts back up and plays the windows startup song, it sounds like it is skipping, along the lines of the computer hanging.

Start with this.....

Open QuickStartup again, and UN-check following items:
- igfxtray
- igfxpers
- GrooveMonitor
- Share-to-Web Namespace Daemon
- AppleSyncNotifier (if you synchronize contact, email, and calendar information between your ITouch, iPhone, Mac, and PC, you need it)
- iTunesHelper
- NvCplDaemon
- RoxWatchTray
- HostManager
- PlaxoUpdate
- WMPNSCFG
- Picasa Media Detector
- ISUSPM
- SUPERAntiSpyware (unless you have paid version)
- QuickBooks Update Agent
- WinZip Quick Pick

* Uninstall Adobe Reader, and Adobe Speed Launcher, and install FoxIt: http://www.filehippo...oxit/changelog/
It does very same thing, it's smaller, and it doesn't run as a startup.
* Uninstall Ad-aware, which doesn't do much except for running another startup, and another service, even, if not in use.
* Uninstall either whole Spybot, which is rather tool of the past, or at least disable TeaTimer service.

Restart computer

See, if it'll make any difference.

Next step would be to uninstall ZoneAlarm, and turn Windows firewall on, at least for a period of testing.

By whom, and how? Are you 100%, your computer is clean?

I have any programs open, such as Outlook or any other program, even a browser, the CPU Usage goes way up on CPU 1 to almost a consistent 70%.

Download Process Explorer: http://technet.micro...s/bb896653.aspx
Unzip ProcessExplorer.zip, and double click on procexp.exe to run the program.
Click on View > Select Colunms.
In addition to already pre-selected options, make sure, the Command Line is selected, and press OK.
Go File>Save As, and save the report as Procexp.txt.
Attach the file to your next reply.
Take a snapshot, when CPU spikes.

OK, I did all of this. Helped a small bit, but not a lot. I even went one step further and uninstalled AVG just to see if that might have been causing an issue. No difference so it is reinstalled.

Thanks for the link for Foxit. It runs much better than Acrobat ever did.

By this link I found it while looking for solutions, which is how I ended up here. After doing everything suggested on that link, and it did find some stuff (using Spybot S&D), still no significant improvement.

I have done this. The log is attached.

Here is the snapshot of the CPU usage when starting up Firefox as an example.
Posted Image

It took it almost 60 seconds to start to display on the screen that it was opening. :)

Some other clues of problems are:
the CPU fan is contantly running at full speed. It did not used to do this 100% of the time as it does now.
Also, when launching a program, I can look in Task Manager and see the program stops responding. It will do this as the program is loading and continue to do so after the program has launched. And again when booting up or shutting down, the music that the computer plays stutters. This is still happening.

Is it possible that I am having a registry issue or memory leak?
