I don't know where else to put this but here it goes.

Note- Before I reinstalled XP, my video was fine.

Anyways, I reinstalled Windows XP SP2 build 2600. Ever since I did, any WMVs or any DVDs or video files that were not AVIs or MOVs had this problem below:


I can only see the inner 2/3 of the picture and the colors are all inverted.

I have tried uninstalling my windows media player, reinstalling it. Installing older versions of it. It doesn't work. I even have these problems in Cyberlink's PowerDVD program and RealPlayer. I have also tried a few K-Lite Codec Packs(Full and Mega) from the K-Lite site. It is also not my video card settings, I set all of them normal. And it is only for video... I play games fine. I really don't know what to do from here. Maybe it is something dumb, but I can't figure it out.

P.S. My video card is an XFX Geforce FX 5500.

Do you have the latest drivers for the video card

Yes. I got them from the nVidia site?

Are they the same version you had before the re-install

I believe that I just used the drivers that came with the card. Though I could be wrong.

I will try installing the drivers it came with now.

Use add / remove to uninstall the drivers you have for the video card and then use the software CD you got with the card

If you do not have the CD then try with previous versions of the files

It was odd that it worked before the re-install

ATI say that when a card is supplied, it is optimized to work with the supplied drivers on the software CD, and that you should only update them if you have a problem
