Welcome to GTG.

Download Malwarebytes ' Anti-Malware at http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe or http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Ant...ware_d5756.html Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform Full Scan, then click Scan.
* The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart (see Extra Note below).
* The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* Copy & paste the entire report into your next reply.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

1. Download combofix at http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe or http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe Save it to your Desktop before you run it.
2. Double-click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply.

Note:
Do not click on combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

OK, I followed the instractions you gave and have posted the 2 logs requested. Also note that yesterday after Sypbot S&D said it fixed the problem then my finger print scan software did not run agian after reboot. I repaired the finger print scan install last night and the scanner was then working on reboot however spybot reported the malware agian on subsequent scan. I don't know if this matters to you but I thought i would let you know. BTW the Finger print scanner is not working as of the last reboot. See logs below and thanks for your help.

Is that the PANTECH fingerprint reader? Did you try uninstalling it completely and the restart the computer to reinstall it back? Make sure Spybot or any of your other spyware scanners are not removing it by mistake.

Are you running ComboFix in Safe Mode? If so, any reason why you can't run it in Normal Mode?

Is virtumonde.sdn still detected now? If so, where is the infected file located?

Below is the info about the finger print reader:

Device name: TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor
Device Version: 4.2.25
Firmware variant: 20000001
Usage: 80000000
Sensor Type: f8000020
Available Memory: 10332
System ID: 10009

I did not uninstall it at all. After Spybot said that it had fixed the probelm I noticed that the finger print reader is not working after reboot so i did add remove programs and ran repair. It bought back the finger print reader after the next reboot however i then recived the malware back after the next run of sypbot.

I did not run cobbo fix in safe mode. I ran it from my desktop. I just reran it and i don't think it detected any thing but i have added the log from that run below.

I also reran Spybot and it did not report any errors at this time. Do you think I'm clean? Should I repair my finger print reader agian? If I should remove it and reinstall it I wounder if the finger print reader software can be downloaded from IBM. The is a T61 and the finger print reader and software were built into the machine. Thanks agian for your assistance.

Another note i forgot to add. When I ran ComboFix this message came up: "Failed to Download updated copy. Will continue with this version." I don't know if that means anything or not but I just wanted to let you know. The program continued to run and gave me the log file that I posted in the previous message.
Thanks

It sounds like Spybot is removing your fingerprint reader software. It might be detecting a false positive. I would reinstall it and run Spybot again to see what exactly did it find. Don't remove it as it will probably remove your fingerprint reader software again.

Was that Virtumonde.sdn the one you were worried about initially? I wonder why it's detecting the software as being infected. If you want, download it from the manufacturer's website to be sure it's a legitimate copy.

Yes, Virtumonde.sdn is the infection that started all of this. Spybot notified me of the infection and I cleaned it thats when I noticed the loss of my finger print reader. I repaired my finger print reader and then Spybot found Virtumonde.sdn again on a subsequent scans. I the posted the original HJT log and then followed your instructions. The MBAD and Combo fix both found and cleaned something. I have removed, through add remove programs, the finger print reader software then I downloaded a fresh install from the manufature. After the install I now have my finger print reader back and Spybot does not find any infections. It looks as if the machine has been cleaned. Is there anything else that we should do to check and make sure all is well? Thanks for you assistance.

Malwarebytes and ComboFix will usually find and remove all traces of the Vundo infection.

Good job. Your log is clean.

To help prevent future spyware infections, read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided.

Are there any problems now? If none, go to Start->Run, copy/paste in combofix /u and hit OK to remove it. You should be set to go.
