Dear Geeks, please help.

My friends computer has been hit by a nasty virus which has resulted in a cd rom error on boot and also (what looks like) a windows corruption.

I have disconnected the cd drive which removes that error but windows XP pro will not start, even in safe mode.

I would like to use the windows cd to start the repair process but can't as the cd has been disabled.

Can anyone let me know what I can do to re-enable the cd drive.

Thanks.
