Hi

Can you help me please? I use windows live messenger, something appear to be hijacking it.

A message appears saying I have logged in on another computer and then msn's all my contacts with downloads.

I have completed all the tasks in the malware cleaning guide and have pasted logs below. Can anyone help please?

Hello porthell,

STEP 1
  • Please start Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and update it.
  • To update please do this, click Update and then click Check for Updates.
  • It will now install any updates it finds.
  • Once it is done updating please click Scanner and then click "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

STEP 2
Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner
  1. Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  2. It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  3. When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  4. Make sure the following is checked.

Hi Jimmy

MBAM log below - it didn't find anything. I had problems running Kapsersky The first time it ran it got to 58% (57mins) then I got an error message saying windows had to close. I started running it again and stopped it as soon as the infected files came up just in case it stopped again. I have posted this log below and will run the whole thing again. I thought it better to stop so at least I had something.

The computer runs slow all the time. I inherited it from someone and it was full of rubbish which I am working my way through to clean the computer up so I am not sure if the memory is nearly full so it is slow or if it is just the computer. I had a problem with the hard drive a couple of weeks ago and had to get someone to re-install it. Since then I get a message coming up regularly saying Virtual Memory Too Low increasing windows memory paging file.

Thanks!

Hello porthell,
If you can't get the Kaspersky scan to work, please try this one.

Please run the F-Secure Online Scanner

Note: This Scanner is for Internet Explorer Only!
  • Follow the Instruction Here for installation.
  • Accept the License Agreement.
  • Once the ActiveX installs,Click Full System Scan
  • Once the download completes, the scan will begin automatically.
  • The scan will take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan completes, click the Automatic cleaning (recommended) button.
  • Click the Show Report button and Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
