Hi there,
I'm hoping you can help me. Earlier today, my computer started to act up. First, my firewall was turned off. A window popped up notifying me of this, so I immediately went to turn it back on. Everything seemed fine... only for a little bit, though. The firewall was turned off yet again. This time, I went to my Windows Security Center and saw that my firewall, automatic updates, AND virus protection were all turned off. I was able to turn my firewall back on (or so it says), but was not able to turn my automatic updates and virus protection back on. Then, blank IE windows started popping up spiratically. Also, when I tried rebooting my computer, sometimes my taskbar and icons would not show up. PLEASE HELP! Here is my HJT log: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 9:46:05 PM, on 12/26/2008 Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16762) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SPBBC\SPBBCSvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\AppleMobileDeviceService.exe C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\CTsvcCDA.EXE C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\DefWatch.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jqs.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\nvsvc32.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Common\ViewpointService.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\wscntfy.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\CTHELPER.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTXFIHLP.EXE C:\WINDOWS\RTHDCPL.EXE C:\WINDOWS\ALCMTR.EXE C:\Program Files\D-Tools\daemon.exe C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CTXFISPI.EXE C:\Program Files\2Wire\Gateway\2PortalMon.exe C:\Program Files\Musicmatch\Musicmatch Jukebox\mmtask.exe C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Maxtor\OneTouch\utils\Onetouch.exe C:\WINDOWS\MXOALDR.EXE C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\PROGRA~1\SYMANT~1\VPTray.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\WDBtnMgr.exe C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\prunnet.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe C:\Program Files\Creative\MediaSource\Detector\CTDetect.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\lib\NMBgMonitor.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Herman\Application Data\gadcom\gadcom.exe C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe C:\Program Files\3M\PSNLite\PsnLite.exe C:\Program Files\My Book\WD Backup\uBBMonitor.exe C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\WidgetEngine\YahooWidgets.exe C:\PROGRA~1\3M\PSNLite\PSNGive.exe C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\WidgetEngine\YahooWidgets.exe C:\Program Files\AIM\aim.exe C:\Program Files\AIM\aim.exe C:\Program Files\AIM6\aim6.exe C:\Program Files\AIM6\aolsoftware.exe C:\Program Files\MYIE2\MyIE.exe C:\Program Files\SmartPopupBlocker\SmartPopupBlockerTray.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\msiexec.exe C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://rd.yahoo.com/customize/sbcydsl/defa.../search/ie.html R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://rd.yahoo.com/customize/sbcydsl/defa...//www.yahoo.com R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = HTTP://WWW.YAHOO.COM/ R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://rd.yahoo.com/customize/sbcydsl/defa.../search/ie.html R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://rd.yahoo.com/customize/sbcydsl/defa...//www.yahoo.com R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://rd.yahoo.com/customize/sbcydsl/defa...//www.yahoo.com R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local R3 - URLSearchHook: AOLTBSearch Class - {EA756889-2338-43DB-8F07-D1CA6FB9C90D} - C:\Program Files\AOL\AIM Toolbar 5.0\aoltb.dll R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {E312764E-7706-43F1-8DAB-FCDD2B1E416D} - (no file) O3 - Toolbar: Yahoo! hello
Before we begin, you should save these instructions in Notepad to your desktop, or print them, for easy reference. Much of our fix will be done in Safe mode, and you will be unable to access this thread at that time. If you have questions at any point, or are unsure of the instructions, feel free to post here and ask for clarification before proceeding. Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop. Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive% (Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix) Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
