Windows XP Home Taking To Long on Welcome screen!?, whats wrong!

Hi , My HP Pavilion is now taking to long on the Welcome screen it takes a good 20 seconds as before took like 3 seconds as this is a fast computer but i have scanned for Viruses , Adware , spyware , registry problems and nothing shows up i cant find anything that can stop this from happening. Is there anyone out there who can help me that would be GREATFUL smile.gif thumbsup.gif

You might want to have a look at what is running at start up. Click "Run" then type "msconfig", sans quotes, uncheck everything that isn't necessary and see if your boot time is faster.

It is just after 7am EDT as I type this. The East Coast is just waking up!

You could also clean out the junk by running disk cleanup and then defrag if you havent already. If you havent done these for a while, that could also be a reason for slow boot. You could also uninstall any prgrams you wont need anymore.

Dowload M$ Bootvis. After its installtion open it, Click Trace -> Optimize System.

CleanUp! is also a good program to use for getting rid of "junk" files.

i have 11 programmes at startup if i give you the names which ones will be safe to get rid from startup:

hpsysdrv
RECGUARD
VTTIMER
AGRSMMSG
NvCpl
nwiz
gcasServ
realsched
NvMcTray
ALCXMNTR
APVXDWIN

There are the programmes at startup is there any there that i cant STOP! ?

Will it be ok to get rid of AGRSMMSG and i found out that it is a SoftModem Messaging Applet for your AMR modem . will it be ok to get rid of

it says explore.exe should be removed and i got told it shouldnt . should it ?
