My computer, a Fujitsu LifeBook S6310 (laptop)with windowns XP installed and has been running fine until today when I was installing a couple of programs. I beilive after I installed fraps (a program used for recording on screen activity suhc as games) the computer began to run slowly.

For example when I alt tab the alt tab 'box' (where all the program icons you have runnong are shown) will stay on my screen until I push the windows button. As well as this when I am typing occasionally nothing will happen then all the text will come up at once.

As well as these to problems somtimes when alt tabbing or simply clicking on the programs on my task bar my cursor will refuse to actually click on anything. I can move it around the screenfine but I cannt alt tab and my cursor refused to actually click on things (i.e. i am trying to close notepad but the red 'x' will not go down and I cannot select programs behind notepad).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Maybe one of the programs you installed had a virus in it.

This doesn't sound like a malware problem, so lets keep the issue here

If one of the techs can't fix you up, and thinks it is malware related, we will check that out then

Have you tried disabling or removing fraps to see if that caused the problem?

Yes I have completly removed the fraps program but the problem is still happening.

EDIT: It seems that my computer is running fine except for 'alt tab'. If I try to alt tab the gray box with the icons in it that come up in the middle of your screen show but then nothing will happen, pressing 'alt tab' again does not scroll through the programs and when I release the keys 'alt' and 'tab' the box stays on my screen, the only way I have found for it to go away is by pressing the windows button...

I'd like you to answer a few questions.
Does this only happen in games? If so what games?

Also, please make sure the keys separately work properly.

This happens regardless whether or not I am in a game or not. I have restarted my computer numerous times, and as a test opened just Notepad and internet explorer and when I alt tab between the to the issue begins.

I believe we can find this in either the startup or the services.
Ok, so lets find the culprit!
Note: This process might take a while and requires multiple reboots.

1. Go to start and hit "run"
2. In the white box type "msconfig"
3. A window will pop up, go to the Startup Tab.
4. In the bottom right, select "Disable All"
5. Please reboot the computer.
6. Follow steps 1 to 3 again.
7. Now turn on 1 or 2 startups and reboot again.
8. Keep doing this until your problem comes back.
9. Once the problem comes back it should be the program you turned on Last.
10. Please tell me which program this was and how the whole process went.

(It is also possible of course that it still keeps giving the problem. Report back and we'll move on to the services.)

The problem is still happening =( Did steps 1-5 and the problem is still happening.

Ok, on to digging in services then.
Note: This process might take a while and requires multiple reboots.

4. In the bottom tick the box "Hide Microsoft Services" then select "Disable All"
5. Please reboot the computer.
6. Follow steps 1 to 3 again.
7. Now turn on 1 or 2 Services (While Hiding Microsoft Services) and reboot again.
8. Keep doing this until your problem comes back.
9. Once the problem comes back it should be the service you turned on Last.
10. Please tell me which service this was and how the whole process went.

Please keep your startups Disabled while doing this.
