When I first installed XP Home it booted up in about 75 seconds. Now, about 1 year later, it takes about 10-12 minutes to boot. After the desktop appears the system continues to work the hard drive for 7-10 minutes doing something. I've used Spybot, Wincleaner, Carbon Clearer, AdAware, etc to clean up the system but it still continues to boot very slowly. I do have a lot of Microsoft Hotfixes listed in my Belarc Advisor Profile, is it possible they are all loading everytime I boot up? Appreciate any help.

Hi there,

No I don't think the hotfixes would be slowing your computer down.

Try Ccleaner here-

http://www.ccleaner.com/

And run these programs here-

Use the AVG antivirus if you don't have antivirus installed.
It's free and doesn't slow down your computer.
