I think I might have goofed up something here..... I had the windows media player 10 installed on my computer. (I'm running windows xp home edition SP2, pentium 4 2.4Ghz, a gig of ram, soundblaster live sound card 64 bit(i think),and a radeon 9200 128mb graphics card). I was having issues with the sound skipping and video being kind of sluggish on the windows media player for quite some time, but the sound seemed to be on my whole system in general. thats another issue I'll probably asking about in the near future lol. Anyways, I had just heard about the windows media player 11 being out, so I downloaded and installed it. And hence this is where my trouble started. After it started installing it was going through the process of updating the registry when it zipped to the end and said that the installation could not be completed. So I tried opening the windows media player and it would start the version 11 installation. So after doing a couple of retries with that, I went to the microsoft website to download and re-install media player 10. Well after that one starting installing, it informed me that I had a newer version (11) already installed and that it couldn't continue. I read around and at first thought that it couldn't be uninstalled. I thought I would try to be clever and start removing windows media player from the program files and registry. Well I wasnt to clever about it. After another failed attempt and trying to get both of them to install I read somehere that it could be uninstalled via command prompt. So I followed the directions and would have had it right had I not somehow managed to delete the uninstaller from the registry. Lol am I making this a lot more complicated then it is? So does anybody have any clue what to do? Any help will be greatly appreciated...

Click start then run, type sfc /scannow then press enter, you need the XP CD and Windows File Protection will show a blue onscreen progress bar, when the bar goes, reboot

Windows File Protection will show an on screen blue progress bar which will simply disappear when the scan is complete, reboot when it does

If you do not have an XP CD you can borrow a same version as was originally installed XP CD, if you downloaded SP2 then you need an SP1 XP CD

Possibly, you will need to press the start button and keep tapping the delete key until the PC enters set up. Change the boot order to CD ROM Drive then hard drive, press F10 then press enter, load the XP CD then type Y then press enter, as it reboots, look for press any key to load from CD, press enter

You will need the XP product key to complete this

If you have audio / video files which are subject to DRM you should check with the provider for known issues with performing an XP repair install

After running XP Repair you will need to install all Windows Updates

Microsoft Update

Lol, if you had problems before you probably shouldnt have touched the beta, you can uninstall it in add remove programs you just need to select to show the updates, uninstall it and it should roll back to WMP9 . You might also need to update some drivers.
