Windows vista explorer won't run

OS: windows vista
I caught some cookies on my system which infected my Vista explorer. After I login windows says that it has detected a problem with explorer then it says it is restarting. It keeps restarting and never does anything. I tried to run Norton Symatec but it didn't fix anything. Please help.

Hello,

I'd recommend, formatting and starting at 0 again....yes it will be long having to reinstall your applications and whatknot, however this will guarantee that your HDD will be erased and cleaned. Also before you undertake this task be sure to back up any data that might be of any importance to you !

PS Ditch Norton and check out Kaspersky Internet Security.....www.kaspersky.com (Version 6.0 is fully compatible with Vista)

Also Kaspersky is rated among the highest for virus detection in the industry !

Only thing i can suggest with the info you provided is try starting in safe mode (tap F8 during bootup) and see if you can mend the problem from there.

I have tried to reboot under safe mode and the F8 function. I have also tried to repair the problem by have windows vista run restart to a previous time, but nothing seems to work.Should I unstall Vista and install Windows XP? I hate Vista please help. Thanks to those who have already replied to my issue.

Backup your data and then reformat your hard drive. Guess its up to you what OS you want to use if you have the licences for both.
