Im using wireless NTL Broadband Everytime i switch on my modem and router downstairs, then go upstairs and knock on my pc...the wirless network icon keeps giving me the message that its "acquiring a network address" So this means i have to reboot my pc to get a connection Any ideas why this happens? Sounds like there is an issue with your router giving your computer an address. I would check to make sure your wireless is set to dhcp as well as your router is configured to hand out addresses.

I have checked my router page and all looks fine.
DHCP is enabled. My security was WPA so i changed it to WEP But im still having the same problem only this time the "acquiring network address" is constantly on even though i am able to connect to the web. I have also went to a command prompt and checked my IP address and i have one!!! How do i check to see if my router is configured to hand out addresses? On one of the pages in your router setup there should be an option for it to hand out an address. Something like a DHCP page. It will also list the DHCP leases that are currently out. If it is enabled than your latptops MAC address should be listed. You may have to check the help on your router to make sure you are on the right page.
