Okay, so a few months ago, my desktop PC broke. We're waiting to get a new one, but it'll be a while. Anyway, we have a Toshiba laptop which I have been using. I've had it for about seven months, and I've never had a problem with the internet. The signal has always been excellent (the router is only about four yards away in my brother's room).

The last few days, though, it's been problematic. The signal starts out fine, but then gets really low, to the point where pages won't load and I have to reset the connection from my laptop. That restores the connection, but twenty, thirty minutes later, I have to reset it again.

My brother has this ancient Mac laptop that he's plugged into the router so that he can check his e-mail and stuff. It's not using the wireless; it's literally using the same wire that we plugged into the old computer. Could that be affecting it?

If it's a problem with the router, I can't fix it yet. All the router stuff was installed on the old computer, which is junk now. Is there anything else that could be affecting the wireless signal?
