I own a desktop and laptop. I currently use a D-Link DI-624 wireless router. The laptop uses a D-Link AirPlus G card. As of a couple of days ago, I have been unable to make a network connection using the laptop despite the card/network connection showing a really strong signal. Anytime I attempt to "repair" the network connection, I get a message reading the repair operation has failed because the IP address couldn't be renewed. The desktop connection is working fine as usual, but I feel like I've tried everything and can't figure out why this would stop working all of sudden after there have been no issues for so long. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Nothing new has been done to my network in the past year, at least not to my knowledge.

I got the following message after entering the IP Configuration commands:

(release) No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has its media disconnected.

(renew) No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has its media disconnected. An error occurred while renewing interface Wireless Network Connection: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out.
[/color]

This shows me that my media is disconnected while my network connection is being shown as "enabled" and signal strength "strong"

Hi. Have you tried to reset the modem and router by disconnecting power? every once in a while, these items need to be reset. I suggest disconnecting power to both the modem and router for at least 15 seconds, and then restore power to the modem first, and then the router. It may take a few minutes, but your system should be able to obtain an IP address once you do this. Good luck thumbsup.gif

I tried that. This does nothing for the wireless connection of my laptop. That's the problem I'm trying to resolve. It's showing an strong connection, but not recieving any packets.

I would access the router's GUI, (graphical user interface) and make sure MAC Address filtering is on. If it is, then make sure you add your Laptops MAC Address to the list (and uncheck the box) so it will allow you to connect to the router. If MAC Address filtering is disabled, then do not turn it on, that obviously is not the cause of the problem. Just something to check.
